One Word ... WE!
The Songs & Story of Pete Seeger
This theatre show chronicles the life, times and songs
of one of the world’s most infuential and progressive
musicians, Pete Seeger, America’s most boycotted,
banned, blacklisted and picketed singer in history. More
than a story of one singer, One Word... WE! places
the songs into their context as it traverses the great
dramas of recent history from World War II through to
McCarthyism, the Civil Rights Movement, the Vietnam
War to the birth of the modern environmentalism. The
show explores Seeger’s relationship with Woody Guthrie,
Leadbelly, Bob Dylan and others and their infuence on
popular music today. One Word... WE! is presented at
Woodford in celebration of Pete Seeger turning 90.
